On Monday, August 11, 2104, the Door County Board of Realtors® annual Golf Outing, to be held at the Horseshoe Bay Golf Club in Egg Harbor, Wisconsin, will raise funds to support the GO BO Foundation.
We hope to raise a great deal of money toward this very worthy cause. The Mission Statement of the GO BO Foundation is to bring hope and health care to children with life-threatening medical conditions by funding research, supporting treatment, and helping their families during times of financial need. The foundation helps families throughout the State of Wisconsin.
As per the GO BO Foundation website best summarizes it:
Bo Johnson was diagnosed with a rare form of Leukemia, EM/AML, at the age of 12. He has battled his disease for a year, and lost on Sept. 28, 2012.
Prior to his illness, Bo was a normal active boy, enjoying life with family and friends. The illness that took his life could NOT stifle his spirit or courage. Facing the most serious medical condition, Bo chose to show all of us what it means to "live life to the fullest & enjoy every day.”
Bo reminded us what true courage means, and why one boy can inspire a multitude with nothing more than a smile and a dream to help others.
It was an easy decision to make this year’s DCBR annual golf outing support donations toward the GO BO Foundation. Last year, our Realtors® raised enough money to contribute to last year’s cause, supporting the Door County Sheriff Department and donated two defibrillators for the Department’s use.

I don’t golf, but my team, Shumway for Community Services, will be well represented by volunteers from the Door County Sheriff’s Department, the City of Sturgeon Bay Police Department and the Sister Bay Lion’s Club. Coldwell Banker The Real Estate Group of Door County will also be sponsoring a team. We hope this is a great event. I would also like to personally thank all of the Door County businesses that contributed donations and raffle prizes to help make this event a success.
