Do What You Love: Is Blogging And Social Media Prospecting?
Years ago I read a book entitled “Do what you love and the money will follow” by Marsha Sinetar. The philosophy behind this book has been challenged by business magazines such as Forbes, who calls it “fallacy commonly cited as sage career advice”.
I am not a psychologist or an economist, but I know when I am doing what I love I am more energized and at my peak performance.
As real estate agents, and I guess in any profession, we are faced with decision to specialized or go where the money seems to be; in my real estate office, its call the “low hanging fruit”. Specializing can be lonely at times and in the beginning can seem futile. As real estate agents, the doubts become stronger when you get the listing alerts and it seem everyone is getting listing around you and you are busy blogging away or posting to social media.

I recently read an Inman article by Teresa Boardman, “No matter what happens in my life, I spend some time each day prospecting"
After reading this blog, I realized that I have never seen blogging and social media as prospecting and as a result I have always felt that I am wasting “prospecting time” blogging & posting to social media.
After reading Teresa’s post I felt liberated and relieved that there is success ahead. Teresa stated that, like with any other prospecting methods, blogging needs to consistent in order to build and maintaining your business pipeline.
I realized that in today’s world there are lots of “noises” and it will take a lot more than the average to burst through. I strongly believe that if I do what I love 10X the average I will succeed.
