2014-2015 School Year classes begin for Harrison High School in Tippecanoe School Corporation in the Greater Lafayette, IN area on Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at 7:30 AM.

It is once again time for school to begin for all Harrison Raiders in Grades 9-12.  The first day of school for the 2014-2015 academic school year is Wednesday, August 13th and classes begin at 7:30 AM.

The regular school day will run from 7:30 AM until dismissal at 2:30 PM at Harrison High School, which is located on County Farm Road at the intersection of paved county roads 50 West and 600 North.

Yolanda, we do get started very early in Tippecanoe County and much of Indiana.  You start when our college students at Purdue University do.

Bruce & Sharon, I like seeing high school classes starting early. It forces the kids out of bed early and hopefully sends the to bed at a reasonable hour.  It may be an early start but they may release earlier too.

Kathleen, all those years of getting up at 5 or 5:30 AM and going to school are all behind me now so I must admit it is nice to sleep in until 7:30 or 8 AM!

I do admire the athletes and individuals in extra curicular activities who have been getting up early these past two weeks for their fall sports practices!  It was very nice being done with school at 2:30 in the afternoon.  If I had my way I would have started school at 7 AM!!!

Karen, it really makes for a short summer with enjoying the public pools, but school would end about May 21st if there are no snow days!  Yes parents are always to get their kids back to school with not so late hours at night as many kids enjoy during the summer.

Our high school started Monday, August 11th...Many local moms are once again putting extra hours as chauffeurs and drivers...but at least they can take a nap while the kids are in school.

Toni, it is that time of year again the the kids already have a half week under their belt!

Sarah, it is a big shock at first for everyone, but once that old routine is re-established things get back to normal!

Judi, it was an uneventful day and week and that is the way we like it in Tippecanoe County!

Judith, it is always good for school to start again, and sadly for some kids that is the only positive experience of the day!

Georgie,  not only the students but the teachers as well!!!
