As many of you know, I often go to Starbucks (or other local coffee stores, pending on the town) in between appointments. I do this both to recharge and to do work in between appointments (as I can get wifi and recharge my computer).
As many of you have read before, it has led to more business. I get leads from my lap top sticker as well as my shirt with my logo. I've made a few friends with the "regulars"...each store has their own. We all help each other and watch each others' computers if we get a phone call.
I run into people I know here - often networking buddies, and this is helpful as well as fun. I've run into people from previous jobs. I run into past customers, as well as current customers (i.e. those deciding or in process). A few times, I've saw a "customer" in Starbuck, and then went to their house an hour later for the appointment and we recognize each other.
Today, I just ran into another customer. She was sitting outside with her friends and introduced me to all of them and said she was happy with her floors. She also told me that she would leave me a nice Angie's list review. Sweet. Things sometimes just work out.
So, if you have time during the day, maybe consider doing your work at Starbucks rather than in your office. You may just meet some more people. I often find I'm more productive when I have a "change of scenery.
