LESSONS LEARNED FROM ROBIN WILLIAMS

When I heard of the passing of Robin Williams I was truly saddened.  There are legends in our lifetime that make an impression on us.  Robin Williams was one of those legends whose artistic work truly made a difference in my life.

NEVER TAKE LIFE FOR GRANTED - Sadly, even though Robin Williams was able to entertain millions of people and bring a smile to our faces, his final days were not happy ones.  No one will ever really know the demons he was fighting within.  This is such a reminder to never take life for granted.  Life is precious and often times cut too short.

TAKE TIME TO LAUGH EACH DAY - I loved the fact that Robin was so impromptu.  He could take just about any situation and see the humor in it.  Laughing is good for the soul so don't forget to take a little time to let out a good belly laugh each day!

REACH OUT - Remembering to reach out to our loved ones, our friends, our clients and to those who just may cross our paths infrequently.  When someone pops into your mind, give them a call.  We never know what someone is going through so just reaching out on occasion is a good thing.

USE YOUR TALENTS - Mr. Williams used his talents to the fullest.  He discovered that he could make people laugh and went forward using his amazing talent to entertain others.  I love to write and blogging provides me that outlet.  What talents or skills are you utilizing to the fullest?  Need to write that book?  Take a course?  Just get out there and do it!

BE THANKFUL - I hope that Robin knew how much joy he brought into my life and many others.  I am thankful for the movies and the comedy routines that he shared with us!  I am thankful for my life and do hope to impact others in my life in a positive way.

TRULY LIVE - Anyone who has watched Robin Williams saw that he was larger than life!  He was OUT there!  What I have learned from him is to really LIVE my life to its fullest!  Be out there!  Be bold!  Have FUN!

So Mr. Williams, thank you for your joy, your humor, your larger than life antics!  I have learned a lot from you!  May your family truly know what a gift you have been to so many others!

Sadly I know exactly how this works.  Losing 2 nephews to suicide for the same reason brings this all to the forefront.  They discuise their pain by focusing on others, making others laugh.  It's so sad that such a talent was lost so young . One of my favorites.  Thanks for sharing!

Paula~ What an amazing talent! We need to be thankful every day and we need to engage others that come in to our lives. No one needs to suffer silently and alone.

Great job capturing what most of us learned from Robin Williams. I have many memories through the years. I will always remember how awesome he was at  flying off the top of his head. A true creative genious. Even though full of demons.

Beautifully written.  He did give so much to the world, it is so very sad that he suffered so much on the inside.  It should be a very loud "GOOOOOOOOD MOOOOORNING WORLD!" wake up call to the attention that needs to be given to these issues of depression and substance abuse.  Thank you Mr. Williams for all you gave, you will entertain generations to come.

Sounds like he was struggling with health issues for a awhile, and just recently diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. The lesson for me is not to ignore the mind/body connection. RIP, Robin Williams, comic genius.

When I was going through my battles, several years ago, I attempted suicide twice.  Of course, I wasn't very good at it, apparently.  The demon of sadness is all engulfing and when family/friends don't understand, they suffer too.  I'm not sure if Robin knew how to enjoy the quiet and the solitude.  Blurred lines when psychotropics are involved, which I hope wasn't the case for him.  I know they made me street rat cra-cra.  May he RIP.

He was a very gifted entertainer and like so many with that mind, so insecure as well. So sad that such a talent is gone

I'm sure there were certain triggers in his brain that made him this way. He doesn't actually seem to have been one who wanted to and things like that. May we laugh happily with his memory. :)

Paula, this was such a shock to us but Robin Williams was able to fill his life with so much laughter I believe he staved off the inevitable by allowing all of us into his World.  Depression can take you places a layperson never even dreamt of either through drip by drip or as a flood.
