America’s Greenest Universities ~ 2014.

Sierra magazine’s “Cool Schools” ranking is a voluntary process for all four year undergraduate universities and colleges in the USA in regards to the school’s sustainability practices. Out of the 173 schools that participated the highest score for 2014 out of a possible 1,000 points was 813.51 for the University of California, Irvine.
To participate the campus administrator’s would fill out an extensive questionnaires (200+ pages) at stars.aashe.org about their schools sustainability practices relating to :-
- Co-curricular
- Energy
- Investments
- Food
- Innovations
- Academics & Research
- Planning
- Purchasing
- Transit
- Waste
- Water
The free survey officially called the Campus Sustainability Data Collector is the result of four organizations collaborative efforts:
- Sierra Club
- Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education ~ AASHE
- Sustainable Endowments Institute ~ SEI
- Princeton Review
