It is pretty nice in Prescott Valley. It would be better if they would shut down the asphalt production plant. One gets tired of smelling asphalt. They produce asphalt for road projects but they are located in an area surrounded by homes. The plant usually is busy at night when the roads are being paved. What happens is that the air cools in the evening and then the fumes from the aphalt plant drop down from the higher elevations and depending on the wind direction, it could drop on your house. It has been so bad that it has given me a sore throat and lungs that felt like I was back in a smog alert. The smell alone has woken me up. These fumes have invaded my house anytime between 7 pm and 3 am. Sometimes a couple of times per evening. One day it was so bad I got in the car with my wife and we drove along Old Black Canyon Hwy. and followed the smell and found out it was the asphalt plant. I have complained to the state air quality people and they said they would check on it. We would not allow a rock crushing plant or any other bothersome heavy industry around our houses, why do we allow the asphalt plant?
