The real estate market in Bel Air, Maryland has a bit to go to get over its slump vs. this time last year. According to Metropolitan Regional Information System, Inc.'s data reflecting sales from the first month of 2007, there has been no change in home sales over January 2006 figures. Metropolitan Regional Information System, Inc. (MRIS) is the area's multiple listing system.
The exact same quantity of homes was sold in January 2007 vs. January 2006.
Additionally, there was a slight decrease in the average home price for the region.. Last year, Bel Air, Maryland homes averaged a sales price of 322,903 in January. This year the average sales price for January was $299,166, translating to a 7.35% decrease in sales price.
Bel Air homeowners with currently listed homes, and Bel Air homeowners with plans to sell soon, need not despair. Because of the historically low mortgage rates and the positive job outlook in the area (due in part to BRAC), consumer confidence remains high. Expectations are for a brisk selling season starting in just a few short months as spring arrives. Just do your best to clear out all the clutter and keep your home in show condition.
