Having fun at the Kentucky State Fair is easy.  Having enough time to fit it all in is the hard part. The 2014 Kentucky State Fair runs from August 14-24 at the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville. The  eleven day schedule is packed full of special one day events combined with exhibits and shows that are open or running throughout the entire fair.

Planning Your Day at the Fair

Work or school schedules may determine when you plan to see the Kentucky State Fair, otherwise, selecting the special events you don't want to miss is a good place to start.

The dates and times for livestock shows, concerts, the talent show and the specialty competitions are all available on the fair's website. After you have chosen the day you plan to attend, putting together your must-do list is next.

Finding Your Kind of Fun at the Fair

The fair's special exhibits like Main Street KY, Kentucky Pioneer Homestead and Pride of the Counties in the South Wing may be of interest to Kentucky newcomers or natives. With so much to learn about the Commonwealth of Kentucky, the fair's special areas are a good place to learn more about the state.  For many it is a pleasure to see the 4-H exhibits located in the West Hall. The hard work and creativity of our state's youth is showcased in this exhibit where the best of the best have come to compete.

Make Your List Then Go Have Some Fun

The list of attractions at the fair is impressive and covers a wide range of interests.  Reviewing the options before you go will help you make sure you don't miss your best part of the fair. Daily comedy and musical performances have stage homes at multiple times throughout the day.  Border collies with a herding show, dirt bike stunt riders, Mama Lou the Strong Woman and a bicycle-driven theatrical circus are just four in a very long lineup of diverse entertainment options. One of the best reasons to go to the Kentucky State Fair is to eat. The selections at this year's fair will not disappoint you, so make sure you leave plenty of time in your day for enjoying the fair food.
