Hendersonville Parks

Oklawaha Greenway

Our great location allows for ease of access to many National and State Parks but many people relocating to Hendersonville don't realize just how much green space is available right here in town. Here is some information about area green spaces.

Within the city of Hendersonville, you will find three wonderful parks, and even better, they are connected with hiking/biking trails full of natural flora and fauna.

Patton Park

Patton Park sits on the north section of the almost two mile trail. Located on 19 acres just north of the downtown area, you will find baseball fields, basketball courts, racquetball courts, tennis courts, picnic pavilions, and a nice sized playground.

The Olympic-size outdoor swimming pool is open all summer and and stays busy with swimmers. The city also added a nice large skate park to challenge kids skills, and it is always full of skaters strutting their stuff.

There is a small paved walking path for those who want to walk in town. But for those serious walkers, or those interested in long walks, join the trail and head south through the Oklawaha Greenway to Seventh Avenue.

Oklawaha Greenway

Oklawaha is Cherokee for muddy running waters. Mud Creek runs along the path and you can enjoy the local trees and plants that have been identified and marked for you and call the area home.

Jackson Park Nature Trail

Once on Seventh Avenue you can continue on to the Jackson Park Nature Trail. Wind through more trees and plants identification. This is an ideal area to also observe local bird activity.

Walking or biking the entire trail is almost two miles. Besides the trail, Jackson parks 212 acres is home to more baseball fields, picnic areas and activity. It is also home to the Henderson County Extension Office, where you can come to get help with gardening and canning. You can become a part of the Master Gardener Program, and join in on the large community gardens that raise organic produce for local charities.
