Selling land on the moon

I remember a few years ago the ads selling the right to name stars after loved ones and before that it was selling land on the moon. My question is, can I sell land on the moon or do I need a special license for that?

I know I can't sell in other states or countries unless I have their real estate license, but I've searched and I can't find the Moon's Department of Licensing. I thought to myself, can I get in trouble if there are no laws on the moon pertaining to real estate or in this case does my state where I write the contract actually count?

Who records the deed on the property and how do I find an appraiser who is willing to tell me if I'm being taken advantage of, or not, on price? These are a couple of questions I would love to have answered. If any of you out there own land on the moon, who did you use as your agent? I would love to talk to them.

Hi Todd - When you get it figured out, let me know - I will send you referrals. I know a few people who are definately from another planet and might like to get closer to home!

I am sure there are already folks thinking this may be the next Brooklyn Bridge they can sell.

LOL, is it one of those days? The sad thing is, I'm sure there are people out there who will gladly pay for land on the moon.

Todd-Well, Your CIPS Designation would work for the Moon (I think) but the tricky part would be that our COE says we can't sell outside our area of expertise.....and last I checked, we don't even know it there is a Man in the Moon....let alone whether the land perks or not LOL :) :)

Hey, Todd! I googled "real estate on the moon" and got several sites that sell it. I wonder what kind of CCRs are involved and HOA fees must be HUGE. :)

Dave - It seems these people are insane and because of this, you can't get the contracts to hold up in court. (What a shame)

Audrey - I think you might need a straight jacket according to NASA. But, I'm right there with you, I even picked up a nice white jacket and some rubber from my white padded living room.

Virginia - Turns our you have to be a rocket scientist as well as a Realtor to sell on the moon. (Dang NAR rules)

Randy - What are you talking about, I just bought that this last weekend, it isn't for sale anymore.

Marlene - I think they actually have already sold some.

Mary - Yes it is, but my question is would I be considered an illegal alien on the moon?

Kathy - My principle broker says she doesn't want to go so I'm out of luck.
