The season opener for Colorado's Major League Baseball franchise is tomorrow! It seems like only yesterday the whole Rocky Mountain Region was going CRAZY over the Rockies spectacular season ending performance.
Last fall, the Colorado Rockies won 20 of 21 games to give them the National League Championship and a trip to their first World Series appearance. Since 1900, only three other teams have won 20 of 21 games after Sept. 1, according to the Elias Sports Bureau. The last NL team to do it at any point of the season was the 1936 New York Giants.
With much higher expectations this season, the Rocks kick off the 2008 campaign with a day game against the St. Louis Cardinals. Monday March 31st, at 2:30 in the afternoon is game one of 162. It will certainly be interesting to see if this years squad can live up to the expectations set by last years historic team.
With last years success, tickets will be harder to come by than in years past. I admit, I've been sucked in and have gone in on season tickets for this year. I have 2 seats for 20 of the 81 games. I'm not sure who's more excited, my 7 year old son, or me! There is nothing like spending a nice summer evening at the ball park. Hotdogs, a beer or two, helmet sundae's, can't wait...Play Ball!
