Well I am back from a whirlwind of a trip to Scandinavia. Spending most of my time in Sweden but with stops in Denmark and the Netherlands.

But one of the special little side trips was to a tiny little country that many do not know about. Well I did not know about it till we were to adventure there.
The country is Landonia. It is a Micronation created by Swedish artist Lars Vilks. Vilks is famously, or infamously depending on your stance, known for some cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad that landed him in trouble with some Muslims. Hence he now has bodyguards.
Ladonia was introduced to the world on June 2nd of 1996. It has a surface area of about 1 square km (0.62 miles). Landonia came to independence out of a battle over Vilks’ art pieces with the local authorities. In its brief, yet colorful history Ladonia has become a tourist attraction that draws tens of thousand of visitors yearly from all over the word, with yours truly being one of them. This has lead to the tolerance of the micronation within Swedish borders.
Ladonia sits on the border of the Kullaberg Nature reserves by the towns of Arild and Mölle in Skåne County, the southwest region of Sweden.
The main attractions in Ladonia are the art pieces created by Lars, Arx and Nimis.

Nimis has several towers and a labyrinth of passages for the those tourist and pilgrims to explore. It was constructed entirely out of driftwood.
Landonia has a population of over 16,000 from over 50 countries around the world. It is a state that no one lives. Lars can be found working on his pieces and is known to be very friendly. (He was not there during our visit )
So if you happen to be in the Southwestern part of Sweden you may want to take a little side trip to a land of Ladonia I feel the journey will be well worth the trip.
I am now on the waiting list for citizenship and can’t wait for my approval, of course I am applying as a noble, “Lord Hester” does have a nice ring to it.
