What I am suggesting with the title of the post is simply this. You buy a home. You make the payments and are content with having made it to that point. Then, year after year, your monthly mortgage obligation starts to diminish. Then, at some point down the line, you have no more monthly payments. In affect, you are living rent free
THE WHOLE NATION DID THIS
In the 1950's, that was the flow of the American people all across the United States. HOW? WHY? Simple! We just ended the World War, production and manufacturing was turned up and people had a mindset to settle down and relax while pursuing a career.
THE SYSTEM WORKS
It didn't cost much to buy a home either. Whole communities thought this way, towns and cities rose up and became "go to" destinations because of large communities and neighborhoods taking shape and forming all thinking the same way.
GOOD TIMES
This was a good time because parents raised their children in the same home and everyone knew everyone else all over town by their first and last names. Note also you could leave your bicycle on the front lawn and your front door unlocked too
MODERATION WORKS JUST FINE
After 20 years of this idyllic living, a strange bonus took place. You owned your own home. Amazing because not having to pay rent was a big savings for people. In collaboration with that, it didn't take much income to live in a mortgage free home either.
STAY AWAY FROM CREDIT!
Credit through the whole thing out of whack. Living beyond the means and wanting more especially when your neighbor came home with a new car or was always on vacation caused many to inquire about how to do that. Wall Street saw trillions of dollars sitting in homes. They drooled over it
BE CONSERVATIVE
This conservative system didn't go anywhere but we did! Return to what we know works. Buy a starter home. Be glad for it and then settle in to the routine that hundreds of millions of other people did and one day, you too will discover how it feels to live RENT FREE
Yes, it can be done.
