HOW DO WE GET THERE?

AR Gathering & BBQ     April 12, 2008     Pomarosa RV Park     Bandera, Texas

Park locator map                                                                              Picture of Real Estate Agent: Jem Woods - Marble Falls TX Real Estate (Keller Williams Realty - Marble Falls, TX)

Here we are!  Now how do you get here?  that's the question Jem Woods asked me.  So I thought I'd give detailed directions.  We want your drive to be as quick and pleasant as possible.

Of course it depends upon which direction you are coming from.   If you are coming from the Marble Falls area like Jem, just hop on Hwy 281 and come to San Antonio.  Take Loop 1604 west (turn right) and go to Hwy 16.  Turn right  (West) again and 40 minutes later you will see THE POMAROSA RV PARK on your right!  It is near the Polly Peak intersection before you get into Bandera.

If you want a more scenic trip, take Hwy 281 to Johnson City and then go west on Hwy 290 to Fredericksburg.  (Don't stop to shop though, you might miss the BBQ :) ) From downtown Fredericksburg turn left on Hwy 16 and go to Kerrville.  Hwy 16 is very scenic from Kerrville to Bandera (twisting roads with low water crossings that will take you a while to drive).  You can turn off Hwy 16 in Kerrville onto Hwy 173 and it will take you to Bandera in about 20 minutes.  When you come to Bandera, stay on Hwy 173 until you come to the intersection of 173 and 16 turn left.  That will take you to The Pomarosa in about 5 minutes.  We will be on the left if you are coming this way.

Coming from Houston?  Take I-10 to San Antonio and then get on Loop 1604 and follow it around to Hwy 16 that goes to Bandera.  Again, it is about 40 minutes from San Antonio to The Pomarosa.  It will be on the right side of the road.

Coming from Austin?   Take I-35 to San Antonio and get on Loop 1604 , to Hwy 16 to Bandera and the Pomarosa.  It's an easy drive.

Coming from College Station?  Get your map out.  There are several ways to come depending on how much you mind or don't mind the traffic in Austin or San Antonio.  Hwy 6 to Hwy 290 or Hwy 79 to I-35 are some options you have.

Coming from Dallas/Ft.Worth?   Take either I-35 or detour to reach Hwy 281 for a drive not nearly as crowded and just as fast.

Coming from Lake Livingston?  We can't wait to see you. Hwy 59 to I-10 or maybe go to Huntsville and then to Brenham.   I've taken that way a few times myself.

Coming from Corpus Christi?  It's an easy drive from I-37 to Loop 1604 in San Antonio and then to Hwy 16 to Bandera and The Pomarosa.

Coming from Georgetown?  You can go through Austin or take Hwy 29 over to Burnet and catch Hwy 281 like Jem Woods.  Maybe you'll even see him on the road.

We can't wait to see all you Active Rainers!  Be careful on the road and don't speed.  We'll wait on you to get there.  It wouldn't the same without you.  There are many more that are coming and if I didn't use your picture, don't feel left out.  If I did use your photo and you prefer I don't use it, please let me know.  Otherwise, thanks!

WE HAVE ROOM for more people so if you have not made reservations yet, COME ON and give us a call or email.  Don't miss out on the fun.  How often do you have a business meeting that would be as much fun as this with people you have always wanted to meet?

If you get lost, don't worry.  I'll be on my cell phone and so will Judi to help you make the right turns to get here safe and sound. Just give us a call.  Write our phone numbers down and keep them handy.  We'll see you Saturday, April 12th at the Pomarosa RV Park , 3845 Hwy 16 South in Bandera. http://www.pomarosa.com/

Cheri Lynn Venditti and Carl Winters will be helping to make you welcome and help you find a place to park your car.  Judi and I will be setting tables and hiding the desserts from Carl, no doubt :).  Our wonderful spouses will be helping out too.  The BBQ will be cooking slowly over a fire outside the rec hall and the fun will begin.  Can you hear that Cowboy Music?  It's just a CD.  Unless one of you want to bring your geetar :)  That would be so nice.

                                                            SEE YOU SOON!

Hey Ricki!  Thanks for the email, sorry I've been gone so long.  It's just been so busy lately that I haven't made time to blog a little bit.  We're looking forward to the BBQ and getting to meet everybody and seeing you again.  Thanks for all the hard work!  As for the directions, what about going through Llano and going down 16?  Scared that I may stop by Cooper's and eat some BBQ before I come?  See you soon :)

03/31/2008 11:21 PM by Jem Woods - Marble Falls TX Real Estate (Keller Williams Realty - Marble Falls, TX)

One more thing (and an additonal 25 points), LOVE the new picture!  Thanks for the bonus.

Looks like you're generating some great interest for this event. Looking forward to pics and posts from the barbecue!

03/31/2008 11:26 PM by John Novak - Las Vegas and Henderson NV Real Estate (Keller Williams Realty The Marketplace)

Hey Jem,   Yoiu better not stop at Cooper's.  I've been there and they will fill you up but let me tell you the BBQ we are making is even better than Cooper's.  It has the most incredible sauce too.  I can taste it just thinking about it now.  You see I've tried it twice before.  This man who cooks it made the recipe up himself and he won't tell the secret ingredients until after we sell the Pomarosa.  Trust me, it's that good!

Glad you like the picture.  It's about time, huh? See you soon!:)

03/31/2008 11:29 PM by Ricki Eichler, your Texas Hill Country connection (Coldwell Banker Heart of the Hills, Realtors)

Hi John,   We are trying to let everyone know about it and give them a chance to come.  It will be our first annual Texas AR Gathering but everyone is welcome.  Why don't you hop on a plane and fly in.  We'd love to have you and then you could be in the pictures. :)

Ricki, sounds like a lot of fun...wish I could be there and enjoy all of your company. Looks like you all know how to have fun!

While reading the directions I couldn't get past the memories. I went to school at Sacred Heart School for Girls in San Antonio in second grade and had one of the best teachers I ever had there. Are there still chiggers in the grass and bunny bread?

Have a blast and be sure and take loads of photos so you can blog to let us all be envious of a great time.

Hi Gena,    Wish you could be here.  Did not know you went to school in SA.  YOu must know the area well.  It's a lovely place to live.  Unfortunately, we still have chiggers, so you have to stay out of the grass or rub your legs down with alcohol if you've been out for a long time in shorts.:)    Will take lots of photos and wirte blogs after the BBQ.

Ricki:

Why do I have a feeling I should leave my wallet at home and bring my pepper spray? Ha Just kidding.

04/03/2008 10:10 PM by Alan Kirkpatrick Austin Texas Real Estate (Austin Texas Homes)

Alan,    Give your wallet to your wife to keep for you.  I know she will bring it.  There are just too many wonderful shops in Bandera to pass up and besides when you see the perfect recreational properties available at reduced prices, you may want to take advantage of the opportunities.  As for the pepper spray? definitely leave it at home.  The only pepper products will be on a tray (Jalapeno type).  See you in a week! :)

Ricki:

I used to be a pastor and BBQ's were not always just for brisquit. Sometimes good ole church folk enjoy a good round of BBQ pastor. HA.

04/04/2008 02:03 PM by Alan Kirkpatrick Austin Texas Real Estate (Austin Texas Homes)

Hi Alan,      Guess I don't know what a BBQ pastor is.  Care to elaborate?  You will definitely be asked to say grace over the food!

04/04/2008 02:20 PM by Ricki Eichler, your Texas Hill Country connection (Coldwell Banker Heart of the Hills, Realtors)

Ricki:

It is an old joke among the clergy. Both Michele and I grew up as pastor's kids and then we were pastors. It has to do with church gossip and such. Overall we were treated very well and stayed at the same location over 20 years.

As far as grace goes, I was thinking of something along these lines:

Father, Son and the Holy Ghost. Eat the fastest get the most!

How does that sound?

04/04/2008 10:12 PM by Alan Kirkpatrick Austin Texas Real Estate (Austin Texas Homes)

Ricki, Thanks for sharing the diretions.  We actually take 290 going that direction but will probably just put the address in the GPS.  What did we ever do before GPS?

Marchel,   Remember stopping and asking for directions if we were driving or NOT stopping and asking for directions if our husbands were driving :)

Hi Ricki, what a great post!  You put a lot of thought and time into this to make it very easy for everyone else.  I'm still trying to talk Bill into it, with not much luck, he just does not want to drive that far for one or two nights.  I have not given up, and I want to come and meet all of you so much.  I'm just amazed at how much work, effort and time you have spent on this to make sure everyone has a great time.  Good job, and if I'm not there in body I will be there in spirit.  LizApplauding Rick

I have spent a lot of time and effort on this but it is so worth it to get to meet the best Realtors in Texas! How can you possibly not be here?  I have some other friends waiting to meet you.  Told them about your magazine interview and all.  Keep working on him.  I have faith in you. :)

Hey Ricki, I rec'd a question about name tags.  Have you bought name tags (in case "sometimers" sets in)?  If not, I'll pick some up tomorrow when I'm running errands picking up the stuff on my list.

Thanks Judi,  We've already got the name tags but thank you so much.  Thank you and Ceil for bringing all the things you are.  Talk to you again tomorrow.  See you Sat.
