Walmart Does Not Live Here
A friend of mine deals in airplane parts. I have no idea how one decides to make a career out of buying and selling airplane parts, but apparently, it’s a pretty lucrative business. Returning from a recent business trip, he brought back a copy of “Elite Traveller”. The actual issue I got is shown above.
It gave me an interesting peek into the world where money means nothing to some people. I felt like a kid with my nose pressed up against the window of a candy shop.
Bling features huge in this Magazine
Almost every page features watches I’ve never heard of:
Girard-Perregaux, Franck Muller, Jaquet Droz and Graff.
A quick Google search indicates that these are teeny-tad out of my budget.
Speaking of Graff; they have one ladies watch called “Hallucination”
which is listed at $55 million. You can actually Google this watch.
Lots and lots of pages of the run-of-the-mill stuff:
$3,500 for a Gucci tote bag, Burberry “Prorsum” bag for a mere $4,000 or a
Anya Hinmarch pony skin bag at a blow-out price of $3,600.
Apparently, people with too much money like their bags.
This particular edition of the magazine featured the top 101 suites in the world and every one of them had a comma in the price.
The Beverly Presidential Suite at $15,000, the Mandarin Oriental at $28,000, St Regis Mauritius at $23,850 and “The Residence” in Geneva at $56,000 being just a few examples that jumped out at me. Spending a down-payment on a reasonably sized house for a nights lodging goes beyond the pale for me.
Not one of these places, (even the “flophouses”, relatively speaking,
at $1,500 to $4,000 a night), offered any specials or two-for-one deals.
Had a really good month and ready to subscribe to this magazine?
