In Life & In Our Business “Tolerant Words and Self-Control…

When confronting difficulties, whether it is in our business, (and or) in life there are certain expectation that’s upon us on how to best deal with the problem. There’s no doubt most all parents expect their children to act accordingly without using harsh words when resolving problems. So why not us?

Have you ever let your temper get the better of you? Life has a way of mixing it up and throwing curve balls at us. Especially in our business, sometimes we get lost in making things right when things go wrong. In trying moments our tempers get the better of us, and we use retaliatory words to confront the issue. The problem with using harsh words to solve problems is that harsh words can do more harm than good.

We need to be mindful that words are so powerful. Use the right words and they can propel you to greatness, just as saying the wrong thing can bring you down. Remember, not only do you hurt others, but also, it is not professional, and it makes you look like an amateur when losing your self-control.

The way we communicate and use our words are indispensable to us, as a matter of fact our actions and the words we use define us. The choice is clearly ours as we confront others. So why not use our best judgment and chose tolerant words over harsh ones “as well as” chose self-control.

Hi Jon -- I've certainly been tested recently...thank goodness for counting to ten(and higher).

Hi Jon, tongue is the most unruly member of the body and has a mind of it's mind. No matter what the situation is, ultimately, we are the ones who are in control of what comes out of our mouth. It's possible to turn the most negative situation into not so negative with the right words.

Hi Jon~ In business and in life, you are absolutely right. Just follow the golden rule, treat others the way you would want to be treated.

So how many times can I hit "like" on this post Jon?  Wise advice for all of us, I should hang this above my desk for those stressful days when i don't always follow this advice as well as I would like to.

Jon, It's part of the frailty of being human, sometimes the temper and tongue win out over rational behavior.

Brotha man if I had an off or pause button it would serve me well. I will admit I am about 90% better now than when I was younger but these truly are words of wisdom

There should be no room for emotions to mess up business communications.  Though it does happen, sometimes much too often

This is so very true, Jon.  I've gotten a lot better at holding back & thinking before speaking, but still have work to do.  Effective communication is important in every aspect of life, and especially in this business.

Good morning, Jon!  Excellent words to live by.  Once words have been spoken you can't take them back.  Best to step away from a situation for a few seconds and return to it than to say something you may regret for a very long time.
