Carlsbad’s Cannon Art Gallery has done it again.
The latest show at this city-sponsored (and free to all) gallery is another winner, as every show seems to be. Carlsbad is known as a town that embraces the arts in many ways, and the William D. Cannon Art Gallery is just one of the town’s offerings.
“Flowers” is an exhibit about just that – flowers in a variety of mediums (oil, acrylic, graphite, encaustic, porcelain, etchings, mixed media installation), colors, sizes and interpretations. From March 30 through May 25 you can experience a breathtaking array of art from 11 artists whose expressions of flowers are as varied as the flowers themselves.
Flowers were a popular theme of the Flemish and Dutch painters, as well as the Impressionists (consider Monet, for example), and these contemporary artists continue this popular tradition.
Curated by Director Karen McGuire, this exhibition is a must see for the art community. Admission is free, as always; hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 11 am until 5 pm; Sundays from 1 to 5 pm.
