- When I was a teenager, I would clip pictures of my favorite teen idol, clothing, sayings and other graphics out of magazines. They would then be taped to my closet doors so I could look at them any time I wanted. When my friends came over, they would be able to ooh and aah over them, too. Too bad we didn’t have Pinterest back then. I would have saved a lot of tape!
Back then the pinning was just for my enjoyment. Today, however, we have Pinterest – a business marketing opportunity you don’t want to miss out on. Wondering how to promote your business on Pinterest? It’s surprising easy!
Here’s some easy ways to promote your business on Pinterest:
Blog Posts - Always add a photo or other graphic to your posts. That way, when you upload the corresponding link to your Pinterest upload, it will automatically be added to your board. You can also watermark your graphics with your company name.
- Infographics – Another eye-catching way to promote your business is by creating infographics that correspond with your blog post. Hubspot offers free infographics templates downloads.
- Events and Announcements – Got an Open House or some other event you’d like to promote? What about the grand opening of your new website, Facebook page or blog? Create an invitation or announcement, optimize and pin it on Pinterest. If you’re more ambitious, create a video and upload it to Pinterest. Don’t forget to optimize!
- Give Your Boards a Name and Category - Think of specific categories for the type of pins you’re adding to your boards. For instance, if you want to promote your property listings, create a board called, “Beautiful Homes in San Jose”. You’re probably writing about the communities and events in your target market. So, create a board called, “Fun Things to do in Cleveland”. Be sure to add a keyword-rich description to each board.
-
Be Kind. Be Generous – Just like any other social media, we need to make our boards have a community feel. If we appear that everything we post is all about us and our business (ho hum), people will turn away. So, be kind and generously repin other people’s boards. The more you pin of others, the more they will pin of yours.
You can’t break Pinterest so you might as well get in there and play. Just remember to get organized and optimized and it will help you promote your business in a fun way.
