Ask an Ambassador: Facebook as part of my marketing... yes or no?

With Google's new... we want 1000 words for value for your post to rank well I have put a LOT more time into the my posts recently.  I also wanted to get the most "bang for my buck" out of those posts and not only do my business page "INSIGHTS" let me track, but so do my "short URL clicks" here at ActiveRain. It lets me know when not only did those posts reach the number of people in seeing it in their newsfeed, but also who clicked through to read the post.  And in my most recent posts I've been adding "if you'd like to receive my month email newsletter send me an email with that in the subject line"  I've had past buyers email me they'd like to get it (even if they weren't my buyers) and I've had people email me and say they'd love to get it.

On a recent post on my Facebook page I had a consumer write and ask me a question about some additional information she was curious about.  She inspired the last post I wrote.  I got the information to her and then wrote a post about it.  That post was NOT on my business page, but a person in my community had shared it from my business page to a Lake Sinclair community page.

It's a public page with LOTS of members and many times when I write a post and then post it to MY business page someone who is both a follower of my business page and a member of that community group will share it there.  So it gets in front of lots of people without me having to do it.  Not only have I gotten business from my business page on facebook, I've also gotten business from that community group page as well. People tag me and recommend me as a broker in that group a lot.  I've become a "go to" person when they need a local recommendation.  (and don't tell anyone, but a another broker started the group, he just doesn't think facebook is for business and doesn't go there much)

Now back to the numbers...

I boost a post about once a week for $20 to $30.  That targeted boost also generally results in me getting a few new likes on my page as well. The most recent one I did reached nearly 6000 people, but only 100 of them clicked through and read the post.  That's okay.  I got some business from that 100. My organic reach isn't too bad either.  As you can see the posts I didn't boost got from 89 views to 200 views.  The most recent that only had 207 views... of that 207...

I had 100 people click on that post.  And while I LOVE LOVE LOVE my peeps at ActiveRain to click on my posts and leave me a comment, ultimately I really want consumer clicks.  And with sharing my posts on my business page I get those.

just wanted to add an update to this post.  9 hours more and more people have clicked on that latest Lake Sinclair post.

So my answer is YES to Facebook.

With the 1000 word change that just added to the reasons I have switched to much more video than blogging and an increased used of social media to spread it. The fact that the top three syndicators now show more mobile traffic than desktop which again shows that we now live in an app dominated real estate world. I will access a video or facebook with a phone but never would I read a 1000 word blog post.

I really do very little on Facebook and if I post one thing a month, that's a lot for me. We all have to pick our marketing, and I prefer Google to just about anything. Although, I do get clients now and then from nextdoorneighbor.

Joe Pryor how does video help with that?

Elizabeth Weintraub Sacramento Real Estate Agent, Top 1% of Lyon Agents I'll have to check that one out.

Frank Rubi I just checked that post again and it was shared 11 times and has an upaid reach of over 1600 now and with 260 clicks.  It's well worth sticking with in my opinion.

Video now accounts for about $300,000 a year in GCI. Now maybe my busness model is different that yours but nothing I have done in the past has equaled it except pre-blogging 2004-2006 website leads to client conversion.

Tammy I could not agree more our Activerain Blog posts  that we boost on Facebook give us the best interaction. It increases the short URL clicks which is what I really want and I also have other business pages sharing our infortmation which is free advertising. I also agree with Joe Pryor Video is essential. I just closed two sales from a video I did in July. That was a quick $22,000 in commision I would not have had and two raving fans into our data base. Keeping the Facebook business page on news feed with a Boosted post twice a week for $40.00 is standard operating procedure since early this year and it is working.

Joe Pryor I get the importance of video and use it, just didn't get how it changed that Google is now looking for 1000 or more word posts.  I should do more video, but there is never enough time.

Patty Blackwelder sound like a solid plan

I use Facebook the same way and have found success with "boosting" posts.  Thank you for sharing your success.  There are too many naysayers out there saying that it is a waste of time.
