One thing I've noticed about ActiveRain is that the membership seems to be composed of a lot of, well, mature real estate professionals. Sure, there are a few who blog about their young children, but let's face it, most of these kid posts are about grandchildren. And I'm guessing that our membership reflects the demographics that NAR puts out, with the average age of a Realtor somewhere in the upper 50's.
Well, Myrl Jeffcoat has formed a new group where aging bloggers can feel comfortable and share some core values with kindred Rainers.
It's call the Old Farts Club.
As Myrl says: "This group is for those who hope to stay up to speed with technology and social media changes and developments. We may be old, but we aren't dead. And, we are still learning!"
I work in an office that is pretty diverse when it comes to age. And there's something I've noticed. It's the older agents who seem to be the most tech savvy. We have our Macs on our desks, carry around our iPads equipped with everything we need to write an offer on the spot, and when we come upon a tech challenge, we know who to call for answers. At the same time, we are not tied to our computers. We pretty much understand that it's the face time with prospective buyers and sellers that pay the mortgage.
Myrl does not place any age restrictions on this group, but hey all of you old farts out there! You know who you are!
I think this will be Post Number 7 to this new group, and I for one am looking forward to reading many more!
