Opening Day

I was not a good baseball player as a kid.  I slowly came into my own in high school.  I played a solid second base.  I was no hoover out there, but I was a good back stop.  I was never afraid to sacrifice my body. 

As a baserunner, I could steal second in a flash when I was able to get to first.  I was a bruiser.  If you were standing in the base path.  I would run you over.  Perhaps, that is where I got my football prowess from. 

I still have a bad taste in mouth about professional baseball going back to the strike when they cancelled the World Series over money and they never cancelled it due to war.  I slowly have come back around.  I am not a Cubs fan at all.  I am southsider - a Sox fan. 

So, today on Opening Day for most of us.  Take a moment to think about to your past and the fun times you had playing ball.  I remember catching that fly-ball that fell from the sky and seeing my Dad jump for joy.  I still see that in my mind to this day.  So, enjoy this baseball tribute.
