Where are they?   They signed up.....

I was looking for a REALTOR  (in Colorado) that signed on and set up a profile today and found 6,521 No Name Bloggertotal that have signed in, and some have started a profile.   Some even wrote a few posts, but then disappeared.    Guess they had no idea had they stuck with this "blogging thing", that it could include solid relationships across the Country with other bloggers - plus a BONUS, REFERRALS!   Last week I got two calls from ActiveRain members trying to give me referrals to Boulder.   Sure wish it was closer, in my MLS, as that would have been SWEET.   Over an hour one way is too far, and I don't have expertise for buyers in Boulder.   Unfortunately, there are no active bloggers in Boulder!

Granted, getting referrals does not happen overnight.    I floundered for 3 years with no idea of what I was doing (OK, maybe I still don't) and when I got my first referral from Austin, I thought I better get busy.    If you are selling, inspecting, doing title, or lending, you know what you are doing, and you DO have something to offer to this community.

Going through some of those names tonight, I found some successful REALTORS®, and they could have added to their success by continuing to blog here on ActiveRain.     Maybe no one was there to help them with questions....    They can always call me with questions.   We all have them.

Don't know where to start?   ActiveRain University is a wonderful place that offer FREE webinars on everything you may want to know and how to succeed.    The webinars are only one hour, and offered frequently.

Visit the ActiveRain University calendar and see what webinars works for you!

I know, you have sat back and feel very nervous about writing a first post.  We all were there, just do it!   With Active Rain University, the webinars will teach you how to do neighborhood posts or market reports with links and keywords to get your phone to ring.    Once you start, that first call comes in --- you will be hooked!    Your sellers will love seeing their listings in your blog!

 Love Blogging

Don't be nervous, jump in and get your feet wet, we are a friendly bunch.

I've looked for folks in specific areas to refer business to, and there were none!   It does make it a bit difficult to service the person needing a referral.

Joan: I believe the primary reason for this phenomenon that you noted is that we live in a society that expects instant gratification in every investment of effort. When not realized; they move on to the next experiment.

Joan, you were the first person to call me from the Rain. You were so welcoming and helpful. My posts were not good but, you're right you just have to keep going and eventually it gets easier. It's a place to be social, not create a profile and never come back!

You are correct. Many start strong, get busy, forget  (myself included), and then never get back on the horse.  I appreciate the community here, the blogging I do primarily at my wordpress blog though. It is hard to blog both places without worrying about "duplicate content." This may be a problem for some.  Do you blog here and no where else?

Joan, before I saw your little gold star I knew this was a post to be featured.  I think some members just give up to soon when they don't receive instant gratification.  You need to put in your time and put out quality blogs if you want to see positive results.

Joan I have many in my area who also set up a profile and might have even written a blog or two and then disappeared.  I also know of several bloggers who blogged for a number of years, and also disappeared.  Hard to figure out why they stopped, but one thing for sure if they continued they would have seen the return on their investment of time on this site.

I gave a blogging presentation a an office sales meeting a few years ago.  Everyone was enthused and several said they would begin a real estate blog.  To my knowledge only one agent followed through.  Blogging is work, and let's face it, many people do not like to write or work too hard.  :)

It is hard to believe that there is no one in such a large area in Colorado....I wonder if someone is giving them the advice that blogging is a waste of time?  But I agree, there are only a handful of agents in my MLS that are consistent but none are as consistent as me.  I don't need to worry about anyone upstaging me as far as points and rankings any time soon as long as I keep trudging along.

The bloggers that went great guns and poof. Stopped. Fred Light, last blog post 4 years ago. It happens but just because missing from AR campus, many still hunt and peck at different venues. We all should in the spread the love and SEO wiring of our online work.

The retention rate for new bloggers does not seem to be good. There must be some improvements that can be made to recognize and encourage new members.

I have seen some comments that new members become discouraged when multiple other inactive members appear in their local and state search. We even have Ambassadors that are no longer active bloggers.
