Tuesdays are a busy day at my office, but it's okay. It's the day my assistant comes in and I give up my desk to let her do "stuff" for me. She's currently having lunch, but in a minute she will be back to updating my website with current events and updating new listings in all the places we submit them and our board. We've been pretty busy picking up new listings this week.
I've also talked with a new photographer I'm going to "test" to see if the homes he does photos for will get more attention than the ones I do photos for. I'm certainly willing to give it a shot and see. Hey if they get more lookers and sell faster perhaps I'll hire him again. I've never been afraid to try new things.
Now to my three things I have gratitude for today:
- My Porch at the office. Yes, I'm on the screened porch right this minute typing away on my laptop with my feet proped up and my coffee right beside me. It could use a good cleaning and I'll get around to that soon. But for right now I'm enjoying a nice cool August day with low humidity. No bugs because we have screen. Lots of nature, we have a creek out back with water year round and lots the birds and squirrels. The office cat keeps me company out here when no one else will and enjoys the birds and squirrel watching too. We will always invite you out for a cup of coffee on the back porch. We've been known to have an adult beverage or two after hours there as well. I call it our "exucutive decision making lounge" because when things get crazy and busy you can escape the office and head to the back porch for a little spell and totally refresh. It's like a mini-stay-cation right out the back door.
- Did you know today was National Dog Day? It's the 10th annual National Dog Day. And I'm filled with gratitude that my Donald and my Daughter Abigail turned me from a firm "cat person" into a full blown animal lover. I can't imagine a morning where Glen doesn't climb his 150 pound self into my lap and demand my attention while I'm watching the morning news. Or a morning I don't crawl around on the floor with with my Laney puppy. Glen was adopted from our shelter and Laney landed on the door step of my office and they are a joy. They both always make me feel better no matter how bad my day might have been or how grumpy or icky I might feel. They greet me with wagging tails and a duck in mouth ready to play each day when I get home. I need to run by the store on my way home today and I'll pick them up a special treat in honor of National Dog Day. I need to buy some people food too though. If you don't have a dog in your life, trust me, you don't know the kind of unconditional love you are missing. I love my grand puppy too. Lexi is sweet dog and very very protective of my daughter. She loves Grammy too.
- And even though it's dog day, I can't forget about my cats. Currently Gabby, Ittle Bitty and Skitty at home, Meow Meow at the office and Jack at my parents (who was an office rescue). All of them were rescued in one way or another from a bad life to get to live and be cared for by me and my family. They have their own unique personalities for sure. Gabby by far is the most affectionate. She loves to be petted. Ittle Bitty is fondly referred to as "devil kitty" because she's a true on her terms cat. Skitty wants to be petted, but don't try to pick her up. Meow Meow fetches straws. And Jack is a hunter. My parents don't have lizards around the house, Jack doesn't allow it.
What are you grateful for today?
