This post may be appreciated by anyone but especially those who strap on their Churchill's and head out for BIG waves. I had enjoyed a 6 mile journey along the Jersey coast when Hurricane David appeared in the early 80's and also in Cape Hatteras where rides of more than two minutes over two sandbars with 18 foot perfectly formed waves. They had a similar drop such as that depicted here and despite deeper water the bottom was the only safe place to be during a Wipeout. This looks like "The Wedge" which is on my bucket list however if I went there today it would be the last entry and someone else wiuld have to check it off for me! Another hot spot when it's cranking is nearby Sebastion Inlet. It's not so much the waves that get you but the surfers who might crowd you out there.
