Looks like a propane gas flow problem!

I replaced a water heater and in taking the sediment trap off at the gas valve I noticed that there was blockage at the gas intake. I'm not an expert on propane gas flow, but this looks like it may be a problem.

Granted this is the water heater that was being replaced, but I wonder if it had a something to do with the shortened life of the unit.

I could be dangerous but I'm wondering if this is a reason for the problem it was having Brian.

I think propane is scary stuff - good thing they add that scent to warn you of a leak.

Another example of why I love my all electric home.  Propane would be my only solution for gas.  No thanks.

Good morning Tom,

As we have a lot of propane users in the suburbs this may become a useful tidbit; thank you.

Make yourself a great day.

Good morning Tom. There are some things I have never seen but would guess there are problems with. You however have to fix this stuff.

I don't like dealing with propane. Bad experience in my family when I was a kid. I don't even like to reignite the pilot light on my water heater. Glad there's people like you to spot these dangerous issues!

Isn't that one of those new 'low flow' valves?   Just like they use on water faucets and toilets?

That is a big problem for even if you clean it out, the small dust can still plug the fine orifices

Michael Thornton that is not sediment, it looks like overuse of pipe thread putty. It must have formed this wall at the time of installation.

Tom, whether it's found in a gas line or an artery, atherosclerosis is going to eventually  hinder the performance I would venture to say.
