Vacation Adventure Continues - More Switzerland

By
Real Estate Agent with Compass CA DRE# 01215160

Our Swiss adventures continue. Yesterday we left Riffelberg, high in the Alps and hiked down to Zermatt where we're spending two more days. How fun it is to put our suitcases on the train and pick them up at the end of the day, after hiking down off the mountain!

Today's weather kept us from our intended hike, so we enjoyed a lazy morning, a hike up a l-o-o-n-g staircase (puts those in SF to shame-LOL!) to a forested trail traversing along the mountainside toward the back of the valley and then back down to Zermatt. A snooze on our balcony, a stroll to Fuchs Konditerei for lunch, and now -- heading for a massage.

I'm always on the go, so this is an interesting change of pace -- I could get used to this!

A few pictures from our hike down to Zermatt yesterday, our street and our hotel in Zermatt.

Those are absolutely incredible photographs and what a picturesque area. I have been there, but it has been a long time.

Good morning Lottie. This is such a neat trip. Is this a hiking group trip? I thought so because your bags were transported. Anyway, some stunning pictures. Enjoy.

Sharon Paxson it might be time for another visit! I don't think it's possible to take a bad photo here.

Sheila Anderson My husband and I enjoy hiking, but we're on our own, not with a group. Here is Switzerland we've learned on a previous trip that you can send your suitcase by train, and then pick it up at the station later in the day, or the next day. Transportation system is amazing here. I'm glad you're enjoying the pictures.

Lottie, I am enjoying following you on your journey.  You truly are always on the go. I know since I slowed down a little, I got used to it. I think we are supposed to slow down before the race ends

Sheila Anderson - Prague is at the end of our trip; 3 days in Schwaz, Austria, up next!

Kathleen Daniels - today was a delightful change of pace. Late afternoon the clouds dissipated and I could see trails heading up the nearby mountain--the feet twitched, but I stayed put.

I envy you Lottie.  I love Switzerland, I want to  go  back so  bad.  I remember Zermatt well.  If you can, go  over to Saas Fee.  We stayed there for 3 or 4 days and it is the anti Zermatt.  Very few American tourists and really an amazing town with heavenly hikes, glaciers, etc...

Thanks for the suggestion, Scott Larson . No time, unfortunately, but Saas Fee sounds like a place we'd enjoy. We spent 3 nights at the Riffelberg Hotel, high up the mountain before we hiked down to Zermatt for 2 nights. Now we've arrived in Schwaz, Austria.

Myrl Jeffcoat - Switzerland is unbelievably beautiful. The little Austrian town we're in now is, too. More on Wednesday, I hope.

Hi Suzanne De Vita - being lazy, getting a massage, and not lacing up my hiking shoes was a very civilized change of pace!! I'm glad you enjoy my pics.

Again, great pictures, Lottie. It is like seeing everything through your eyes. I am not too sure about sending a suitcase ahead by train and picking it up later when you arrive at that destination. WOW! At our Chicago O'Hare Airport, you better race to baggage to retrieve your 'suitcase' before someone else lifts it and walks out. Evidently there is a more sophisticated system in Switzerland and Austria. Keep on enjoying your vacation
