Well the Tanglewood season for 2014 is officially over. Tony Bennett just closed the venue with an amazing show. I like Tony Bennett, but wasn't a big fan until today. This guy is amazing. He sounds better today than twenty years ago and is all that you would imagine and more: gifted, kind and very, very much himself. The show opened with his daughter, and then he did an hour and ten minutes without intermission and most to a standing audience. I noticed the audience was mixed too, some contemporaries, and a fair number of folks half my age. His band was great and also ranged from Count Bassie's drummer to a couple of real young musicians: all of whom he let shine on their own. The guy can still move, is funny and boy..... his voice. Hard to believe he is 87. He is off to Europe now and I will see him next year again if he comes, maybe with Lady Gaga, whom he mentioned. What a show!
I saw Tony a few years ago. One of the best performers on the planet!

Sheila- I am pea green with envy!!!! I am a huge Tony Bennett fan! If you're a "new" fan, get his Duet's CD's where he sings with not only Lady Gaga but also Andrea Bocelli, Josh Groban, Queen Latifah and many more. You're right.. he is amazing.

Oh, you brought back memories of my Mother. She and my Father saw Tony Bennett years ago and had the good fortune of meeting him after. Her review was the same as years, fabulous concert - incredible voice, and (talking with him) just a lovely man. I am so happy that you were able to attend and enjoy his talent!

I think a show with Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga would be absolutely exceptional. They seem an unlikely pair, but watching them together on various TV shows has me thinking they look really cute together!

Never saw him perform, but did see him at a restaurant in the late 90's while in Los Angeles.
