dollar houseWhile looking for a wonderful real estate agent to represent you and your family, there are a few things that will separate a really good AZ agent from the rest.

  1. Do you know where and when the freeway system is building?  The Phoenix area freeway system is key to a good location.  Even if you don't have to commute, lucky you, the future value of your home can be seriously affected by the building and expanding of the system.
  2. Do you know which areas are affected by snowbirds?  If your agent doesn't even know what a snowbird is, than keep looking...if you don't, shoot me an email.
  3. Do you know where roof rats like to live?  Same comment as above.
  4. Do you know the top three school districts in the Valley?  Even if you don't have kids, future resale is greatly affected by the quality of the school district.
  5. Finally, did the agent ask enough questions about you and your family to make sure that all of your needs are being met?  I always send my new clients a list of questions that help me to find the best home for their family.  I make sure I know all of the names, ages, and hobbies of each family member.  If Dad likes to golf and Mom likes to jog, I know how important it could be to live near a golf course and a track or walking trails.

Arizona has lots of wonderful real estate agents and a few not so great.  Do some homework and trust your gut.  A wonderful real estate agent will make your transaction wonderful too.

The Phoenix are is a great place to live, filled with friendly neighborhoods and fun activities.  Especially when you have a friend to show you all the great spots.  Let me know if I can help your family find your next home in the Phoenix area!

2 Comments on Roof Rats and Other Questions to Ask Your AZ Real Estate Agent

That didn't take long.  :)

It's a mouse-like creature that eats citrus fruit  and will live in citrus trees and on the roofs of dwellings near them.  Parts of the Phoenix area, like the old Groves in Mesa and the Biltmore area, have dense citrus vegetation which leads to roof rats.  They're nothing compared to the rats of NYC but we gotta have something to talk about.
