I am so excited to see development and rejuvenation in many parts of Dallas that have seen shadows for years. Much of East Dallas is going through expansion and growth, with new construction, rehab, and eliminating the riff-raff that tends to occur over years of neglect and a turned eye.
The area between Dallas City Hall and Deep Ellum has been one of those lucky spots, with new money coming in to facilitate face-lifts - and that includes the newly re-opened Farmer's Market 'Shed #1'... or what is now called "The Shed."
Interestingly, DF Market Holdings purchased the Farmer's Market acreage from the City of Dallas, with plans to build mixed-use development including residential, restaurants and retail areas at a future date. The City of Dallas, however, retained Shed #1, and is leasing the space out to DF Market Holdings. Smart move, if you ask me.
Now that vehicles are not allowed pass-through or park beneath the pavilion, more space is open for more vendors - many of whom are local. Rehoboth Ranch from East Texas sells grass-fed meats, raised there on the ranch, and has been a staple at the Farmer’s Market for 10 years.
Take the opportunity to visit and enjoy the sites, scents and sweetness of all that is local!
