Located on the shores of Bull Shoals Lake and Lake Taneycomo is Forsyth, Missouri.  Just 12 miles from Branson, this quaint, little town has a population of 1,670.

In addition to the courthouse and county offices, Forsyth has many other businesses to support the growing population including grocery stores, restaurants, banks, medical facilities, shops, and more.

The town of Forsyth has an interesting history. The Village of Forsyth was incorporated in December of 1890.

In 1913, Powersite Dam was built to produce electricity in the Ozarks. One of the results of this dam was the creation of Lake Taneycomo.

The town was once located about 2 miles from its present site. The reason for the change in location was the construction of Bull Shoals Dam, about 80 miles from Forsyth. The people of Forsyth had to choose between moving and ceasing to exist. In the early 1950's, the city leaders chose to be reimbursed for the city's land and moved.

The city was recently given the distinction as having the best-tasting water in the state. This title was awarded at a Missouri Rural Water Association seminar. Making this judgment were professionals from the Department of Natural Resources and the Environmental Protection Agency.

The best-tasting water, two wonderful lakes to enjoy, a beautiful small town-what more could you want in a place to live?
