Tip of the day to help save the earth - The last day of March, 2008!

Make your meals earth-friendly. When packing a lunch, put sandwiches, chips, etc. in reusable plastic containers instead of sandwich bags. Carry your drink in a washable thermos bottle, and your lunch in a reusable lunch container. For meals at home, put leftover food in hard plastic washable and reusable containers. (You could save glass jars and deli containers for this!)  When you go out to a restaurant to eat, Take plastic Tupperware containers with you for leftover boxes instead of using the Styrofoam box they give you at the restaurant, which will just end up in the landfill!

As always, Please comment with any questions, or anything to add!

Jonelle,

The thing that gets me is all the plastic water bottles that everyone is using these days. Why not just get a good filter and a nice reusable bottle?

Nineteen years of excellence!

As far as take-away containers go they are so terrible both for you and the environment. If you microwave your food in them you release so many harmful chemicals. Tupperware is best then microwaved on glass plates.

 Great advice!

I agree with you Jonelle but I am lazy sometimes! I noticed that you wrote "landfill". Do they have landfills in UT still? Here in Spokane, WA, our trash has been taken to the Waste-to-Energy plant where it is burned and turned into energy which is sold to the various energy companies. I think it has been around for about 10 years or so. We sit on an aquifer and they figured out that the landfills were polluting the water. I figured that most places in the country were moving in that direction but maybe not! I was just curious.
