Point2 is Sold to Move.Inc.

Point2 Listing Syndication services ( which is a Canadian company Ltd) is sold to Move.Inc. 

 

2014 seems to be the year of selling companies in the tech sector of real estate.

 

Point2 announced this morning that they sold their Point2 Syndication services to Move.Inc. 

Point2 has syndication relationships with 112 MLSs in the U.S. with over 900,000 listings.

 

 

“The combined network will remove duplication of listings currently served by both systems, and will now provide information from more than 600 data sources, and distribute approximately three million listings nationwide, or close to 85 percent of residential listings in the country."

 

Move.Inc is the parent company of ListHub. Move.Inc bought ListHub in 2010. 

Move.Inc bought TigerLeads in 2012. 

 

Point2 just signed a 10 year lease in a new building. 

 

Move.Inc operates Realtor.com. 

 

According to Luke Glass who is the executive vice president of industry platforms for Move: 

 

“This is a critical step toward our vision of a single industry platform to manage listing, agent, lead and other analytics information in a single platform,  which is an important component for the largest brokerages and franchises that span multiple MLS markets,” said Luke Glass, executive vice president of industry platforms for Move. “Once the transition is completed, these listings will be protected under ListHub’s stringent terms that guide the responsible and fair exchange of value between content owners and publishers, while brokers will have a single point of control through their dashboard. This model offers significant advantages to the industry in improved online listing accuracy, a single platform for MLSs and their largest brokerages and franchise members, and streamlined service for the publishers who strive to serve the industry through marketing websites and other software solutions.”

Allowing Mortgage Professionals to Lend Nationwide

The big get bigger and the control over agents and their listing continues, is anyone really surprised?  The industry will always change especially with technology expanding as it does.  Hold on to your wallets folks, if they control the industry they control how much they will charge you to be a part of it and I don't expect you'll see prices going down.

I've had a P2 account for several years, but don't use it much (wasted $$ ) because it's a rather clunky website to work with. Maybe they'll upgrade it some!

Without out listings these companies would be out of business. I have a problem paying for leads generated by my listings. All you have to do to be called a "local expert" is pay for the title. We are part of the problem when we send our listings to those sites.

Jacqueline Drake CRS Jacqueline- Point 2 and ListHub do not sell back our listings. They are the portals by which agents syndicate their listings. 

Now, I do have a problem, a huge problem with Z T R who sell our listings back to us, because NONE Of those 3 companies would be where they are without the listing agents data. AND the agents who pay them big bucks to get leads.

Travis "the SOLD man" Parker; Associate Broker We have had a point 2 site for many many years. We pay $50 a month for ours. We can not get rid of it because it has literally thousands of pages indexed in google serps that no way I am going to spend the time or resources to duplicate over to our websites. That would cost more than $50 per month for many years:). Besides, we use if for one more vertical we can get ranked.

Trent Dalrymple  We don't buy leads from those biggies. We work with companies that empower the agents and give them the tools to get their own leads like Realbird. 

So the prices going up won't matter to us directly. By the time they make their mark inside of the transaction and work to undercut us and get our fees down, that is when I will change niches or change businesses.

It sure seems as though some of the bigger companies are only getting bigger by merging with other businesses. I am not really sure what this is going to do to our industry, but it is something we are just going to have to live with.
