Twins - Conway, Missouri style

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with Debbie DiFonzo - United Country VIP Realty, SW Missouri

This morning, I was out and about, trying to find a foreclosure property between Conway and Marshfield, Missouri. I never did find the home I was looking for, but I did pass this Momma cow and her babies several times. Finally, I just had to pull over and take a few photos for our website and for my Active Rain friends.

This is the first year I've noticed twins. My husband said he has see a few sets of twins this year out in the fields but agreed, this is the first year he's really noticed them.

The University of Nebraska at Lincoln reports that the rate of cows having twins has increased from 4% in 1984 to 52% in 2001, an increase of 3% per year. (Read the fulll story HERE.) Not sure what the rate is today in 2008 but the occurrence of cows having twins seems to still be on the rise. So....

Enjoy - twins, Missouri style!

This was a better find than the foreclosure. See what getting out of the office can do for you.

I love it.  I once took a picture of a baby colt nursing on its mama and it's one of my favorite all time pics.  Unfortunately the camera was an early digital and was set with a low resolution so it can't be enlarged.

What part of Missouri are you in?  I've been to St. Louis & St. Chas, Jeff City, thru Columbia, Independence, and Kansas City.  (I don't care for KC all that much.)

Jeff City has to be the most quaint capital city I've ever visited.

Aren't they cute!  I'm sure they didn't wonder what you were doing:)  It is always nice sometimes to get lost and explore what is around the next bend!

David is right, this is better than the foreclosure. You don't see too many twin calves. Reminds me of when I was growing up on a farm in GA.

Twins are cute.  I saw some colt twins a couple of days ago, but the road and traffic didn't allow me to stop and shoot pictures.

Glad your's did and you shared them.  Thanks

David - You are so right! I wasn't all that disappointed I never found the foreclosure.

Karen - Lebanon is on I-44 about 2 1/2 hours from St Louis. We're about the same distance from Jeff City. You're right - Jeff City is a wonderful capital. Lots of history, part big city, part rural town.

Jennifer - I love to explore the countryside. I just don't take enough time anymore to just roam. Thanks for stopping by!

Michael - This is the first pair I've ever seen. I grew up outside of Chicago and I'm still in awe of the countryside and the livestock. Do you think it will ever grow old?

Erby - Oh, that darn traffic! If you ever had the chance again, I'd love to see that photo. I was out in the middle of no where - no traffic for miles. Thanks for stopping by.

Carole - I am so glad you enjoyed the photos, Carole! I enjoyed them so much I just had to share. Glad I did!

Elizabeth - Your comment made me laugh - I would love to have a baby calf. My husband says NO WAY! He knows I would name it, have it eating out of my hand and make a pet out of it. He said we'd have a 30 year old "pet calf" - I'd never let him get rid of it. I so wish they'd stay little and cute!

Don- You are so welcome! It was my pleasure - hope you enjoyed these pics
