motor homeLet's all support our truckers. I think we can all agree that the price of fuel has also impacted our business. Buyers must factor in the cost to fill their cars up...it effects how much they can qualify for.  Food costs more..everything costs more.

On April 1st 2008 OIDA (owners and independent drivers association) is supporting a nation wide truck shut down.  You've probably all heard about this on the news.  What you may not have heard is that they are asking all Americans to be proactive and to call your Senator and/or Congressman on April 1st and tell them something needs to be done about the high diesel cost.  This cost is passed on to you the consumer.  Everything you buy gets transported on a truck. Think about it ...Everything. Take a few minutes tomorrow and make that call....who knows, maybe... Together Everyone Achieves More..(TEAM)

Lets make a difference!

I think we should all stay home for the day. The entire country on strike against the big oil companies. I hope this is not an April Fools joke!

I am all for it.  Diesel prices are pushing $4.00/gallon in my area.  Just wondered what it is in other areas?

Jay, I saw on the news here in Texas that in Austin the city has been using an alternative fuel in some of their cars for 3 years and they get almost 100 mpg!! I'm telling the truth! I almost fell off the couch. They have even fitted a school bus with it as well.

They're electric cars with a fuel source and if Austin can do it...let's get it done all across the country. I guess it will never happen because all of our politicians pockets are lined with oil.

Jay, I almost have a heart attack every time I fill up my tank.  There is no reason for the cost to be this high, especially when the technology exists to produce far more efficient vehicles.

Diesel fuel is over $4.00 per gal in NJ.  We have not only been realtors for a long time, we were also trucking employees for a long time before becoming full time realtors.  Unless you are involved in the transportation industry, one would have no idea what goes on behind the scenes and how it affects the consumer.  We have already been involved in nationwide strikes -- that is the only way we are going to get their attention!  We support them!

The cheapest diesel station I have seen is in Plaistow, NH at 3.99 a gallon, everywhere else is over 4.09 a gallon.

Alternative fuels are the way to go but I have a stong feeling the oil companies buy the little companies and squash the idea.

Dependence on foregn oil is ludicrous and also we haven't built a new refinery in 30 years says a lot about the oil companies.

Boy Jay -- I had no idea -- I guess I have been too focused on other issues.  I am glad that you brought this to my attention.  I know we are all feeling the impact of these high fuel prices.

First, diesel hits $4/gallon...and gasoline is not far behind.  Yet, it's hard to fathom that we still have some of the lowest prices in the world.  But without enough voices against big oil, and enough congressional support, we will always be at Exxon's mercy.

Jay,the price of fuel is the straw that stirs the drink....prices of everything are a big result of the price of fuel.

I am wondering now though..even if the price of fuel went down..would the price of everything else go back down or would the companies just pad their bottom line?

Jay I am glad I have not watched the news lately. Is there anything positive they talk about anymore? Prices of all utilities are unbelievably high right now.

Jay - My neighbor is an owner operator (he carries gas) and he spends about $2,000 a week on diesel fuel for his truck.  UNBELIEVABLE!
