Why are you really in Real Estate....Really?

By
Services for Real Estate Pros with Taylor 1 INC

why are we in this business we call "Real Estate"?

This business is full of ups and downs and yet there are more and more agents, L.O's, appraisers and Inspectors entering into this profession daily. The question at hand is......Why are you in the business!?

Is it the money? Is it because you love people? Is is because you hate working for someone else?

I'm  hear to say whatever the reason, you should have a clear "why" or your purpose? It's key to your ability to perform at your greatest level.

Napoleon Hill calls it "Definiteness of Purpose" ... Understanding the why? Having a clear idea of what you want to accomplish and how you can help others.

Many of us are driven by the need to help others. It gives us a sense of joy when we see our clients get exactly what they want. We have a sense of achievement when we deliver a product on time.

A long time ago, I got into the business to get back my time. I dreaded a "Nine to Five"! Working for myself and planning my own day gave me immense pleasure.  It wasn't until later that I found helping other to be equally rewarding.

I would like to congratulate all of you here at Active Rain. It is my firm belief that you are the cream of the crop. I also, believe your passion expressed here through blogging is what makes the site one of the best forums on the internet!

So, I'd like to hear why you are hear and what Defines you purpose....?

I really like helping people. I particularly like helping families who are making transitions through life ( just got married, having first child, retiring) and need to buy or move into a new home. Great post. I do find these "self-reflection" questions useful to keep me focused.

Klarque - That's a good point for people to ponder about their life's work.  I like guiding buyers and sellers through the process.  I enjoy educating and counseling them, and I love to share in the joy they feel when they accomplish their goal of buying or selling.  I also like working as a problem solver to find solutions that work for everyone.

On the other hand, if you do what you love to do, money will come, and you won't realize you have worked. I enjoy what I do, from pre-whatever to post closing. What I don't like is accounting...

I am in real estate because I enjoy helping people. Real estate, of course, is not a "simple" business - and all sorts of things can come up to stump Buyers and Sellers. I'm a problem-solver.

I also do this business because of the financial freedom and flexibility it can provide.
