Problem Solved: If You Know The Secret!
Most school mornings begin with blurry eyes, a very hot shower and a great sense of humor because I have found it's the best way to survive the comical ballet, zoo show or circus act that follows. Children, who at any other time of day (especially bedtime) have a hyper-unlimited supply of energy seem plagued by slow-motion and a looping disorder. We pack lunches and backpacks the night before, and observe an early bedtime which helps tremendously with the slo-mo problem. The looping disorder starts right after breakfast and sounds like this "go brush your teeth and get your water bottle out of the freezer". This phrase is repeated multiple times in a 3 to 5 minute time span (looping) until compliance is achieved. I thought it might be a focus problem so I applied a simply focus technique. I found a small, all natural mint and put some in an old tic-tac container. The next morning, I said the phrase only once and shook the mint container loudly and put it quickly in my pocket. Amazingly, my kids complied, grabbed their backpacks and buckled up in the car at which point I soundlessly gave each one a mint. It's been a couple of months and we are still at about a 95% success rate. Problem solved if you know the secret!

Kids Express is a program for school-aged students between the grades of Kindergarten through Sixth grade.
