Autism is a developmental disability. Children with autism have social & language problems. This results in difficulty communicating their wants and needs. Autistic people have difficulty dealing with sensory overload, such as bright lights and loud noises or combination of both. Autism may be mild or severe. All children with autism don't have the exact same problems. We are very blessed in Catawba to have two active school systems that help our Autistic kids.
