Central Oregon is full of places to enjoy the outdoor lifestyle.  Almost every lake is located on public land with easy access for all to enjoy, most have some kind of camp groundbe it on the primitive side with just you and nature or full RV hook ups it can be found.

La Pine State Park offers not just camping but Yurts and small cabins for rent - they have "flushing potties" and showers too. La Pine State Park is located on The Big Deschutes River.  One my most viewed photos was taken from this great State Park - the photo to the right is the photo I am most often asked about.

Some people will often ask what a Yurt is - the photo on the left is a yurt - for more information or to make reservations at La Pine State Park - you can visit the website La Pine State Park

See, to me, roughing it is sleeping in a full bed as opposed to a king or at least (gasp) a queen.  But as I told my husband about camping, I'm willing to learn, as long as it isn't too cold.

Sounds like the type of camping I might get Sandra to agree with..... Indoor plumbing with a shower!

Thesa, while I love the idea of camping, bugs and poison ivy like me more!  And I must say that looking at your photos made me want to try it!  Flushing potties!  Wow!

Having done a lot of tent camping over the years, this would seem like a luxury outdoor vacation.  Beautiful scene.  That's a prize winning photo of the vista.

Thesa, what a gorgeous photo!

I used to love camping.  Until my bones felt "old".  Now a hot shower, full bed, and a coffee pot are a must!

Over the years we have camped in some pretty awesome places, but that photo makes me wish we could come to Oregon to camp,  Karen

Hi Thesea,
I am so excited! I'm planning a trip to Oregon in the summer, it'll be my first time to your beautiful state.  What are the "must sees"?

Thesa - Great post - I started putting together something similar for my area but I need to finish it soon as the best sites get reserved very quickly.

Thesa - I used to love camping in tents and such.  Now, I prefer a motorhome or hotel.  Too old for the tent scene, but I love the scenery.

That river picture stands out as one of my favorites of all time, Thesa.  I also love to go camping.  Though I prefer to camp in August.

Hi Thesa...So glad that we Oregonians are not wimpy.  I have grown up camping and have always loved it.  I think I have been to about 70% of the state campgrounds...at least.  Very timely!  Thanks...

Good Morning Thesa,

Flushing potties are always a plus in my book! Although I can rough it pretty well and am proud of it. My family would say ...Yurt , what do we need a yurt for!!  just like Sarah said...Oregonians aren't wimpy!!
