In a recent issue of Entrepreneur Magazine, the Round Rock and Killeen areas were noted as being one of the best places to purchase a home in the entire US. Killeen was noted as having some of the lowest home prices in the nation while both Round Rock and Austin were praised for having a growing job market while maintaining stable housing prices.
There are other reasons why I think the market here in this area is so good and
continues to be very popular place. I'll address a few here:
Killeen - Being an obvious military market, Killeen is very interesting to investors with a steady supply of lease tenants due to the presence of Fort Hood, one of the largest Army bases in the United States. Again with the reduced costs of the housing market there, investors have an easier time acquiring property and also have an easier job in keeping it leased.
Round Rock - A stable bedroom community for the past 10 years, Round Rock real estate has experienced phenomenal growth due to the presence of Dell Computer Corporation in this area. Michael Dell and his company folks worked for years to help negotiate the new tollway systems that have now opened (SH-130 and SH-45), that have made the entire north Austin market explode due to ease of accessability. This coupled with the fact the Round Rock schools are highly rated, shopping is prevalent here and the lifestyle of the city is awesome have made Round Rock a GREAT place to live evidenced by a near tripling in population in 10 years.
There are many other communities in the area to discuss, but I will talk about those in other postings at another time. If you have considered coming to the greater Austin area to live or simply to make real estate investments, we need to talk!
