"What does eager to sell mean?"

By

An agent says a Seller is "eager to sell." The buyer said what does that mean? Some may see desperation of the seller others may see an opportunity for an easier negotiation. In either case, I of course had my interpretation and advice for the buyer.

My answer was:

Whats does eager to sell mean? Good question and many people interpret it phrase differently. I believe the seller or the agent representing the seller is just making you know that the price is not firm, they are willing to negotiate. So just view the home and determine at what price the home may suit your needs. If so make an offer. Seeing the substantial price reduction is a sign of being negotiable and/or realization that the original price was unattainable at this time and in this market.

Make an offer! What is the worst that can happen?

What I love are the MLS remarks "Seller says SELL!"

Oh - okay.  I wondered why this house was on the MLS... *smile*

Karen,

Thats a great one! "Seller Says Sell!"

That agent is stating the obvious.

I wonder if the owner actually made requested posting that statement on the listing.

P.S.

Thanks for the comment Karen

I'm afraid that type of statement is an open ended offer to get low ball bids, that the seller will not like, so unless you are specifically told by your seller to use those exact words I would find a different tone to take.. Steve

I try not to make statements like this - I think it just puts that feeling out there like there is some kind of desperation.  Good luck

"Eager to sell" may bring in offers, but the sellers may not receive the offers they expect to see. It does sound like an act of desperation, unless of course the sellers are desperate to sell. I call these "come on" statements which may back fire on the sellers.

Good Post!
