I must admit right now I don't have a supply of shoe covers with me when showing homes, however this item is rather inexpensive and a great tool to have on hand.

Why would you want to have this little item? We are now in the spring season and it can get somewhat muddy.  This will give the homeowner peace of mind that dirt is not being tracked in on their nice wood flooring or carpet.  The reason that stands out for me is I have watched seniors struggle with removing their shoes before entering a house.  Wouldn't it be much nicer if you could just help them slip on a shoe cover?

During your listing presentation this is an item you could discuss with the owners showing them why spending a few dollars might be well worth it.

These shoe covers are readily available online.  So lets add this tool to our real estate resources.

You can also use a plastic adhesive floor covering that keeps people on the plastic walkway and dirt off the carpet.

Thats a great idea for your area but down here we are experiencing a dry season which makes it a lot easier.  Thanks for the tip!

I usually keep them in my listings in a basket by the door.  Makes it convenient for others who are showing.

I took a fellow agent on a listing appointment with me to a farm that had a plowed field- after walking around the field with me- I suppose I should pass this info on to him- lol- he got his 500.00 pair of shoes quite dirty.

That is a good idea. They can keep the homeowner's floors clean, AND they can keep the buyers footwear clean. Definitely multi-purpose.

Jennifer I am glad that you clarified this at the end, because I was starting to think that you had a problem with my foot odor ........ LOL

Thanks for the great idea.  I've been having my clients take their shoes off, this is much better

Good idea Jennifer.  Here in our area right now there is pollen and red dirt all over the place.  I think this will really help!!

Very good suggestion Jennifer.  As an appraiser, it is a bit annoying when someone tells you to take your shoes off...it would be nice to put these on instead...particularly when I wear Uggs or clogs with no socks!!

Jennifer, These are always by the front door in certain clients homes that do not allow shoes in their home.  I didn't think they were expensive, though, did you check a few places?  I think they're wonderful.

Mathew - That's a possibility except people usually want to explore area where the plastic was not placed.

Sara - In your case you could track in dust and for people with allergies that is not good thing

Laura - That is what we should be doing.

Debra - That was an expensive tour. To think he could have used an exterior shoe cover.

Dan - I am sure this makes it easier on the client, I have seen people struggle with their shoes.

Rosario - That's it in a nutshell

Thank you for that link Jennifer - I looked all over for these a couple of years back but I only checked the local stores - didn't think of going online at the time.

Jennifer, great suggestion and something that I haven't thought about using in some of my listings.  Thanks for the suggestion.

Hi Jennifer;

Great idea for protecting your clients floor or rug during bad weather.

I love this idea.  We listed a new construction house recently and the seller was very paranoid about his carpet, so he bought home to leave in a basket at the front door.  They were used every time!

Not a bad idea. On many occasions, buyers have made negative comments when they are required to remove their shoes before entering the home.

I always have these in my new constuction homes that have carpet installed.  As well as my high end homes.  Works great.

Wow! Jennifer this post takes me back to 1994. Back when I use to work at National Institutes of Health as a Animal Caretaker straight out of high school. Every time you enter a animal room, you have to put on shoe covers. I guess I have to start doing that more now again when I preview people houses. Great post.

Excellent idea!!  I'm going to invest in some of these - what a great way to show your seller how much you respect their home!

Actually, I might have some in my car too for when I take buyers - which will show them the same thing - that you are a professional and you value what belongs to someone else and has been entrusted to you even if it's only for a showing.

Hi Jennifer,

Yes, we see them a lot here in SoCal. Actually one of my agents has a device (purchased at a trade show) which a little larger than a shoe box. When you place you foot in the box it released a "bootie" that covers your shoe for you. Her clients love it!

These are great, I see them in really expensive homes and models. Like Karen it would be a great idea to carry them in your car so your own clients could use them and not have to take off their shoes.

Carol - You are welcome.  I think they are worthwhile.

Ray - Sharing ideas is what it is all about.

Anthony - It sure beats having to mop up after a tour.

Cindy - I really think this is a suggestion that should be made to the homeowner when listing the property.  So many people get offended if they are required to remove their shoe.

Derrick- That is so true, I once had a client who past on the property because he did not want to take off his shoe.

Susan - I hope more of us will join you in doing this.

Lanre - So this should be easy for you.

Gita - I guess many of us will be doing the same.

Karen - You have the right idea

Eugene - You are welcome.

Lynda- Can the device be purchased on line? if so maybe you want to add the link here.

Missy - I think such a gesture would be appreciated by the client.

Great idea! MY grandmother used to keep little, soft slippers for people visiting her home, and you could eat off the floors. Now that I live on a farm and have teens and pets tracking mud in, all of the time, I can better appreciate her line of thought.

Seriously, however, your information is terrific and appreciated. Who wants to get a home cleaned and staged enough for sale and then see it all tracked up.

Thanks!

Diana - Thank you, besides keeping the place clean, some potential buyer struggle to get their shows off, why now  make it easier for them.

Jennifer, you are just a weath of great ideas!  I'm getting a box of these to leave in my car so when I show houses where they ask you to remove your shoes (which ALWAYS makes buyers unhappy) I will have an easy disposable alternative for them.  Thanks for always sharing!
