Many of you may not know, but one of the largest Mobile Industry trade shows (CTIA) is going on this week in Vegas. One of the hot topics is MySpace’s further integration of mobile technology into their already robust platform.

MySpace is planning to announce that subscribers will now be able to sign up for text alerts which will notify subscribers of new messages, friends, comments and an abundance of other updates almost immediately.

How does this materially impact your business? Well, if you are currently using MySpace as a marketing tool you will now be able to interact with the network anywhere, at any time. Are you featuring a real estate listing on MySpace? Well, when someone comments on that listing you will find out immediately and can easily respond when you gain access to the site. If you have a smartphone you will be able to respond immediately.

Many of the comments that I receive on social networking is that it’s time consuming. I completely agree with that statement…we all have to ‘work’ at some point. But there is clear value in being engaged in social networking that’s why being able to manage your presence in these spaces with a mobile device can save you time and energy.

I use myspace and facebook for marketing not only my listings (with little success) but also myself and workshops I offer to first time homebuyers (with moderate success).  For an hour a week, snatched in 5-10 minute increments, I have netted 3 buyers in the past 6 months.  Not bad for FREE!
