With Google Authorship Gone, Should I Stop Doing This?

By
Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Realty Southwest S.0074877

With Google Authorship gone, should we stop posting idential blogs to multiple sites?

I was told that once I had Google Authorship, it was ok to post identical blogs to multiple sites.  This was because Google would see that it was all by the same person.  However, now that Google Authorship is gone, does that mean that I will be hurt if I continue with the same practice?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Excellent question, Jimmy. Not sure about duplicate content being good ever. I think Anita has the right answer and approach.  I think it makes sense to get your posts out there as many ways as possible, and it's pretty easy to post multiple places with some modifications, and links back to the original post

I am certainly no expert - looking to see who else will weigh in

Jimmy,

Your question is one that has been around for quite some time. It's always been thought that duplicate content hurts, rather than helps, the author. That being said...Google is really the only one who knows the answer.

Praful Thakkar at the end of August (I believe Aug 28th), Google announced the end of the authorship project.  (pictures had been removed from search prior to that).

That being said, when people are logged onto their google account, they will see the author photos of those they follow on G+.  It is unclear if they will also see those photos of those they have written gmail to (or vice versa).

Hello Jimmy.  These are the type of questions with very knowledgeable people answering and giving information that make AR so much more valuable than the monthly costs or points awarded.  Thank you

Interesting post and comments.  I'm not doing this correctly (I post on WP and on ActiveRain - the same content), so I have to start doing it properly.

I too was told by an SEO guru for a web developer that duplicate content is a no-no.  So, I post blogs here on AR first and then share the links on FB, LI and G+.

It's an interesting question that suggests some deep thought not only about duplicate posting but about how to get the most post out to our social sites in the least amount of time.

I share, not duplicate posts. And I feel the more you're out there, the better so I won't stop sharing.

Lots of good answers, but I will go with  Anita Clark's  strategy in comment #13.

Interesting question and comments, my eyes have been opened.  Just last week, I started posting blogs to AR first (my strategy since the becoming a Rainmaker) and then posting the same (or close to the same with slight changes) to Trulia.

Apparently, I shouldn't be doing this unless I first allow Google time to index my AR content and then post to Trulia with more than a few changes to the content, and link back to AR.  I also post links to my AR blog on my website, which is okay from what I'm reading here.

I had no idea Google authorship was gone.

Authorship might be dead but Author Rank is prooving to be a strong and growing indicator.

Posting the same information on different blog probably won't be impacted with Authorship being removed from the SERPs. Why?

Because blogs are still associated with an author. However, I've never been a fan of the same blog on multiple sites but that is a debatable topic.

Anita Clark , Debbie Gartner , Tammie White , Toby Barnett  - You guys are rockstars!  Thanks for the great advice.

Starting today, I will have a new approach.  I will be posting on my personal site first (the one with the IDX) so that I can get the eyeballs back to that site -  making sure that I am shown as the author.  I will then post on Activerain, but reference that first article and link back to it.

I will stop posting the blog at Blogger and just share the content to my hearts content to my Google+, Twitter and Facebook account.

Does that sound like a winner?

That sounds like a winner.  One original source for the blog, and then shared on other social media sites for further exposure to the original post.

Jimmy Chickey Yes, that's exactly the right way!  And, share on Social media as much as possible.  All those links back to original will help (even if they are no follow).  If you have extra time, also post on Pinterest.  You can also use Viralcontentbuzz.com (free version) where you can share your stuff on...you get points (or credits) as you share other people's work and then they share yours with their credits.  It seems to be working very well for me (w/ minimal effort).  At the same time, I'm learning even more on SEO and social media as a nice little bonus.

Sounds like a Plan Debbie Gartner !  I will check that out today.  :)

Eileen Burns , not sure if you saw this.  Great ideas here on how to work with Google now that authorship is changing.  :)
