 Our First Snowbirds Have Arrived!

A sure sign of Fall is these guys running through my yard.  The wild turkeys show up sometime in late September or early October. How do they know it's time to visit Florida?

Our First Snowbirds Have Arrived

They are our first snowbirds to arrive every year.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Toni, I would say those are snowbirds that need a large DINING room and KITCHEN!

Toni: You can nearly set your clock by their return. Like Roy, I wonder where they came from before heading south for the winter.

Anita Clark and Roy Kelley - maybe the North Pole? They could be scouts for Santa.

Toni, they're smart! Getting in and settled before they ever taste the cold from another area. It's amazing the internal clocks that animals have.

Toni we have wild turkeys as well.  We just moved to a new house and one morning I looked out the front window and there were 4 turkeys standing at our front steps.  They even had nap time on a hot afternoon and when they left they gave us some presents.  The turkeys around here are famous and are called the Canby Turkeys, they even have a facebook page.  People are crazy, but no one would think of doing away with them.  They are healthy and love to eat the gardens.  The other day I looked outside to see my neighbor running down the street waving his arms because the turkeys were in their garden.  A good laugh because it looked so funny.

Toni, we see a few wild turkeys here in Alabama, but I see more in Wisconsin and Illinois even in winter...guess they're not snow birds

Bob Ratliff It Is!!! Christmase is only 99 days away too.

Mary Stewart That's a funny story, I will have to visit their Facebook page. Thanks for sharing.

Brian England I told them all about you so I'm sure they will

Amanda S. Davidson  It is amazing, I'm watching the hummers coming and heading south. I will miss them at my kitchen window.

Anita Clark These guys are pretty skinny looking so they have a good chance of making it. Except for the hunter on the other side of the woods whose gun I hear once in a while.

I have to wonder where these turkeys come from.  I remember seeing photos of them last year in your blogs.  Hopefully they are safe from the AXE!

Hi Toni, the other day I saw wild turkeys crossing the road up here... and pretty slowly too! They'd better move  a little faster if they're going to Florida :-)
