Of course, a story like this would HAVE to come from my home state of California. So let me start of by first apologizing for my state... sorry dudes and dudettes.

You really need to read the article and pay attention to really get the underlying stupidity here. The folks being written about were part of the problem. The husband in this is described as being part of the movement to "Give birth" to the subprime market.  According to the article, they each are now without their "six figure" incomes (they declined to give exact numbers).

What sacrifices are these folks making during their times of trouble?

"trading in Kent's Corvette for a Suburban and getting rid of the gardener"

What is even more amazing is that the husband, arguably one of the architects of this mess we find ourselves in is now trying to make ends meet by betting his real estate license and working with foreclosed homes in his area.

Of course, we don't want anyone to go through hardship. I am sure these folks thought that there careers in subprime lending were helping folks who could otherwise never afford a home get into one. But then, there are those of use who always thought of the practices used by these subprime folks as ... well... not so smart. In the pantheon of "Lifes Intelligence Tests: FAILED", the whole subprime situation ranks pretty high up there.  So forgive me if I roll my eyes just a little at folks who are forced to sleep in the bed they helped make.
