Quid Pro Quo..or Is This A Fair Trade?
Rick Snow asked us this month to consider what we trade in order to obtain information from buyers or sellers. In any exchange there is an understanding that both parties will receive something. In fact, that's literally what quid pro quo means, "something for something". That "something" can be goods--like groceries, or a new car--or it can be services like a house cleaning or an accountant preparing your taxes.
It can also be information.
At TW Realty Group the "something" we offer is exceptional information to prospective buyers and sellers. True, we might offer a home valuation tool in exchange for an e-mail address, but what we primarily offer is information that buyers and sellers crave.
What's going on in my community, or more likely, my neighborhood? What is my home worth? What amenities does one neighborhood offer over another neighborhood? Is it a buyer's or seller's market and what does that mean--to me? Thousands of prospective buyers and sellers visit our website every month. They very willingly give us their contact information because they know that we give them information that they won't get anywhere else.
Unfortunately, it also means that we get lots of calls from people who are already working with other agents, or from those thinking that all the properties showing up on our website are our listings (we wish)! We sometimes get calls from other agents who believe we must be the on-site agent for new construction because we show up on Google before the development appears!
The "something" we give out is outstanding, in-depth information. Our thousands of visitors each month feel they are getting a great trade for the contact information they give to us.
