Best Dog Parks in and Around Palm Desert, Indio and La Quinta California
We get hot around here and we certainly don’t want to neglect “play” time with our four legged friend. No matter the weather, there’s always a great dog park or off-leash park around Palm Desert to let Fido run free. Here are the best dog parks in and around Palm Desert California.
Freedom Park - this park is located at 77400 Country Club Drive and features over 26 acres with multiple sports fields, volleyball and tennis courts, a skate park, playgrounds, trails and picnic shelters. Of course, there's a fabulous dog park perfect for letting your pooch profits leash and frolic in the green grass. It is a smaller dog park with not a lot of trees or water features but locals say that it's never very crowded in the area is fenced for larger dogs and small dogs.
University Dog Park - this park is located at 74902 University Park Dr. and is one of Palm Desert's newest parks. There's a little over 2 acres, playgrounds, sports and basketball courts, picnic pavilions, community gardens and walking paths. There's an off-leash area for small dogs and lots of benches under the trees to let the dogs run.
Cahilla Hills - this park is located at 45825 Edge Hill Dr. and features over 27 acres with pickle ball and tennis courts, picnic areas and miles of trail. This also serves as the trailhead for the Cahuilla Hills Trail System. This area is not fenced so you want to make sure that your dog can respond to you and come when called. Although it appears there are no set rules for this park it's a perfect place to let your dog off the leash, let them run, and enjoy the trail system. Remember, bring some bags just in case so that you leave the park just as clean as when you came.
Civic Center Dog Park - this park is located at 43900 San Pablo Ave. and is one of the largest parks in the area at over 70 acres. There are numerous sports fields, concessions and restrooms, sports courts, five picnic pavilions, a skate park, playground and empty theater as well as the dog park., The dog park area features large and small dogs spots in a perfect place to let your dog ran free or play fetch for a few hours.
Joe Mann Dog Park - is located at 77810 California Dr. and features numerous sports courts, a rose garden with water feature, picnic pavilions, playgrounds, restrooms and of course the dog park. This is a smaller packages to an half acres that is clean with lots of grass. This park can only accommodate 45 large dogs at a time so if you live close it's a perfect place to let the dog run but if you live a little further away you might visit one of the larger parks in the area.
DOG PARKS IN INDIO
Mulligan Dog Park - Indio has just one dog park located at 45353 Van Buren St. but this park offers a beautifully manicured grassy area, close to the freeway yet safe and plenty of shade for relaxing.
DOG PARKS IN LA QUINTA
La Quinta dog park - this park is located at 44950 Seeley Drive and is a fun little dog park perfect for your pup to run around but not so huge that dogs will run off too far.
Lake Cahuilla Recreation Area - this large areas located at 58075 Jefferson St. and is over 700 acres situated at the base of the Santa Rosa Mountains. It's located 6 miles southeast of Old Town La Quinta with expansive lawns, picturesque mountains and a 135 acre fishing lake. There's also hiking and horseback trails perfect for letting your dog when and have fun.
Remember, you should always have your dog vaccinations up-to-date and let your dog get prepared with other dogs before letting them loose at an off leash dog park. You don't want to be the bad parent with a misbehaving pooch. Have fun!
