Where Am I Now? #3

By

This one is special. I waited a very long time to visit and it was far more than I expected. Sometimes the smallest things bring the biggest surprises. Going to the main places was wonderful, but the ones pictured here had the biggest impact on me. So take a look and let me know what you think. Where am I?

So, do you know now? There were clues here.

Hi Sheila! Beautiful shots! I am clearly not as well traveled as you so hope my guess doesn't underscore that... But I'm thinking Israel?  Not sure but am intrigued to learn more.  ;)

Good morning Sheila. To be honest I have no clue where you are.  The ruins look like many are New Mexico but the rest of your pics tell me that you're not here.  Where are you? :)

Good morning friends and thank you for stopping by and leaving your comments and offering your support: I really appreciate it.

Hello Brenda. You have made a good guess. None of these pictures are are from the most recognizable places, although I have those too. Later I will describe where these were taken. Thank you and stay tuned.

Hi Steve. You have hit it as well but I will be back later and delienate. Thank you and check back later.

Hello Wanda. Not Rome although I see why the columns threw you off. I have seen columns like this in many different places around the world. Thank you for stopping by.

Hi John. You're right it isn't New Mexico. I have never visited your state but want to so maybe next year. Thanks.

Hello Will. Nope not Africa or Egypt although I see why that was your guess. Check in later for more information. Thanks much.

Thanks all, later.

My friends these pictures were taken in Israel. The top pictures and the soldiers on the steps were taken at Masada. Masada was a Jewish stronghold although it was built by the Romans. The Jews were exhiled and lived on this moutaintop. When it became clear that they were going to be overcome, they chose to die as free people rather than slaves and took their lives rather than be slaves. The tank and bunker shots were taken at the Golan Heights. Un less you see the topography it is impossible to understand the struggle. The caves shown are where young Arab boys found the Dead Sea Scrolls. The pillars on top are the remnants of the first Temple and the ones below are in Caeseria overlooking the Mediterranean. The snow capped mountains are above Jerusalem.

Oh, I was going to guess Africa, since you had recently been there.  Wow. what an interesting life you lead, Sheila!  And to be able to see where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found is amazing!

You've really traveled a lot. Great photos.  I have a necklace a friend brought me back from a trip.  She had it blessed by a Rabbi, a Catholic Priest and a Christian minister while there.  She said she was "covering her bases"
