Thankful Thursday ~ For A Happy Childhood

By
Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Realty 0575737

Stick DogI always think with today's busy world I am thankful for

A Happy Childhood.

Playing outside more, climbing trees, chasing the ice cream truck down the block, slower times, not instant everything with media.

I do think with pocket computers, especially playing games, today's youth by parents needs to STRONGLY enforce time on these machines, teaching BOUNDARIES. That throwing a ball around, getting your knees skinned, riding a bike, READING, all are important besides hours of blasting things on a little screen.

Kids CAN HAVE a rich childhood STILL, maybe richer than the GOOD OL'DAYS, but it does take some excellent parenting. BE THE PARENT, not the friend to children. Let them have a wonderful childhood too.

Gary - The thought of having our own phone was completely foreign to us,  now I see kids as young as eight with their own cell phones.  I embrace most changes, but I do think every child needs a childhood that isn't over-scheduled.

I grew up in a very different world for sure...  I remember getting our first TV... Imagine a life with no TV...  If I had to pick then or now... I'd pick then...

I have fond memories of riding my bike, playing baseball, and buying ice cream from the ice cream truck when I was a child. I know we live in a different world, but I hope my kids will have fond memories of their childhood as well.

Hey Gary! It is amazing how you can sit on the street and see not one child playing outside. When I show houses I often have kids in the backseat and they never look up from their iPads our cell phones they are at the complete mercy of the software Giants!
